The route I took up Mount of the Holy Cross leads up a 1000’ warm-up hill before descending 1000’ back to the base of the Mountain. Only then do you actually start going up the real mountain. Gorgeous Views and comfortable temperatures. Denver was suppose to reach 100+ degrees today, so I was glad to be in the mountains.

Moments after sitting down on the summit and pulling my food out, a nice lady asked me to take her picture. Now, the top of Mount of the Holy Cross is very rocky… the jagged type of rocks and not very stable either. I was probably still light headed from the climb and lost my balance. I smashed her phone on a rock and it likely saved my hand from a good bit of damage. Feeling bad about the whole thing, I gave the lady my number on a piece of paper and told her I’d pay for the repair/replacement. She assured me she had insurance and It’d be no big deal. My hospital bill would have been higher than the cost of the phone. Good times.
